Biographical history
Will Koop is the founder and coordinator of the B.C. Tap Water Alliance (1997 to present, www.bctwa.org). He helped lead the fight through ongoing advocacy to re-protect Metro Vancouver’s watersheds (1991-1999), and has authored dozens of reports, most on the subject of community drinking watersheds and the struggles for their protection. He is also the author of a book, From Wisdom to Tyranny: A History of British Columbia’s Drinking Watershed Reserves (2006).
In 2006, he began research and writing on energy (Big Oil) issues, as they relate to the theme of fresh water impacts. In February 2010, he began a website called Stop Fracking British Columbia, investigating and pioneering concerns about hydraulic fracturing, focusing on research, writing of reports and media releases. In December 2014, he authored an investigative report on the Mount Polley mine tailings disaster and a history of the mine entitled The Scene of the Crime.
