Scope and content

Sub-series consists of records relating to "The Gull," the Japanese Noh play written by Daphne Marlatt. The play is a dramatization of the historical link between the fishing town of Steveston, home to many Japanese-Canadians, and Mio, the coastal village in Wakayama, Japan, from which many of their ancestors originally emigrated. Records include manuscripts, permissions, correspondence, musical scores, research material, photographs, books, articles, promotional material, programs and related production material. Also includes two optical discs, one of which contains sound files with transcriptions.
