Biographical history

Gene Waddell holds an MA in architectural history from UCLA. His written numerous articles, which have appeared in professional journals such as the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians; Architectural History: Journal of Architectural Historians of Great Britain; and Against the Grain. He served as Director of the Florence Museum from 1969-1975, Director of the South Carolina Historical Society from 1976-1984, Associate Archivist at the Getty Center for the History of Art and the Humanities from 1985-1993, Head of Collections Development for the Library of the Canadian Centre for Architecture from 1993-1996, and College Archivist and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Art History at the College of Charleston from 1999-2009.

Scope and content

The series consists of an unpublished manuscript created by Gene Waddell for the Canadian Centre for Architecture. The manuscript exists in two different formats – as a photocopied, physical copy and as digitized files. The physical copy is an unabridged version that can be accessed in the reading room, and the digitized files are text-searchable, PDF files that are accessible here in SFU AtoM.
