Scope and content
This collection is split between three series: Textual Records ([1992-1999?]); Photographs ([ca. 1990-1992?]); Video recordings ([ca. 1992-1994?]). The textual records are comprised primarily of transcripts of interviews, some correspondence and a project proposal.

Donor notes: Material consists of moving images and textual records relating to the documentary "The Legacy of Jon Gates". Produced and directed by Peter Davis and Harvey McKinnon, the film documents Gates' last two years of living with AIDS and his "struggle to make one final eloquent statement - that no vaccine for HIV?AIDS be released in the North without a guarantee that it be made freely available to people in the South." Includes master tapes and raw footage, as well as a proposal for a documentary titled "Walking on Water: Living and Working with AIDS", which was to feature Jon Gates.
